Newbie here. I want to create a water ripple in AE in a perspective view. Something like you are looking at it at an angle (see image 1). Unfortunately, the ripple effect in AE can't be set at an angle...it's always top view (see image 2).

How can I achieve an angled ripple like in image 1? Thanks!

Hi,

You could create the ripple effect on a simple 2D plane and then rotate the plane in 3D space to be at an angle. However, note that that would still just be a 2 dimensional effect and won't have the 'depth' of the samples you provided.

If you want to create something like the examples you had you will need to use a 3D program (e.g. Blender) or plugins for After Effects such as Element 3D - and then import a 3D model of a ripple.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,
Tobias
